Review: Thomas & January

Thomas & January Thomas & January by Fisher Amelie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book I have read written by this author and second book of this series and I am ready to explore more works of her.

I don't know much about music industry bcs all I need is the end work that is album.

Thomas and January both attracts each other at first sight but Thomas is not ready to take another risk at love but a planned tour by a friend puts them together for a work trip and everything just changes for them.

I liked the monologue of January a lot better than that of Thomas. While I liked the conversations in the book 1 I enjoyed the monologue in the book 2 of this series.

The conversion were a bit sappy in the second half of the book but the fight between them during the first part of this book was just awesome. Right from the NY party to the airport.

Another good work by the author. Recommended to every romance book lover.

Review: Time Between Us

Time Between Us Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What ever you do you can't change the past or it can effect the present. It's the rule that has to be followed by the time traveler but he violets it by falling for a girl who lives 17 years earlier in time.

The story starts with a letter in 2011 and goes to 1995 and eversince then I just couldn't help myself but to keep thinking about how time travel happens and how it effects. Why he is here? Is that bcs of the letter. If that then how did they meet back in 1995 at first place. Is it a cycle? If yes how did it started in first place.

I couldn't help myself but as I went on reading I couldn't help but curse it that secret will be released soon and when it all happens and I read the last chapter is when everything clicks back in place.

It was very intergued book and even though he time travels I am glad the author kept at that what everything happens is supposed to happen and has already happened. You can't change it ever. Traveling back in time to the letter everything had happened in past and will happen again in future bcs time is a cycle.

Suggested to everyone who likes romance with a suspense and paranormal.

Review: Angelbound

Angelbound Angelbound by Christina Bauer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars. Loope hole ruined the book.

I am having a hard time reviwing this book. Some books are very difficult to review because even though they miss few elements in the books there are always some flaw or loops in the books. The author took this book beautifully from the start to end.

The content is good enough to hook you up till the end but still it was a little bit unsatisfactory. The events were discribed in a very big way especially the wars but the after effects of wars was very dull. I think that was the biggest mmistake made by the authour. I cant tell what was wrong without spoling my review but i will try my best.

since its very difficult i will list the pros and cons of the book.

Cons

1) The attacks by demon on putagory was very vague, attack happened 17 years ago and within short span of 17 years the quasis forgot all about what they are and accepted everything thought by the ghouls. There were lot of questions which were left unaddressed like why angels didnt attacked to get the freedom back to the quasis.

2) The second attack was also very vague. We never got to know the after effects of war. It was more like war of only One Quasi Demon. What happened to the rest of them?

3) The politics among the five class of people was very vaguely kept. Ghouls were very strange. I dont believe that why Ghouls and Quasi alone didnt had any army?. If the Putragory was owned by the demons/ghouls why would they even allow quasi deplomats to live like the case of Zek's family?

4) The second attack shown in the book felt like as if the only quasi demons who should be left in the world has to be only 3 persons but we never knew what happened in it.

Long story short the plot had plenty of loop holes which in the end made the well written book unsatisfactory. May be the author should write a small novella of 0.5 & 1.5 to explain the two wars properly from various POV which will be better in understanding the book.
Pros.

1) The book went with its high and low like a wave due to which you will enjoy through out the book. Its not a slow start and pickup nor its a middle dry. It is well balaced and well paced.

2) Even though the book is more or less predictable but still author will keep it interested for you.

3) Like most of the High Fantasy book where authour never comes to the main plot and make a long route here we dont have no such thing.

4) The small arena fights, school pranks and romance at various bits kept the book very interesting.

If you can keep aside the loop hole which is like a ocean then you will enjoy the book plenty.

Review: The Thief

The Thief The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The only reason i have read this book is because of too many positive review on the further series.

The book takes a very slow setoff and doesnt create much of readers interest and that is the main reason why half of the readers will abandon it before it reaches chapter 10. The chracterisation has been done wonderfully and the climax was just amazing.

The plot twist of the final was never expected by me at all. It was just amazing how everything turned out in the end. The story of various gods was interesting thought but it actually failed to provide anything material towards the book except for the few of them. It could have been shortened.

I would like to read the next parts only because of the amazing ending in the current book bcs with this type of writing you can always expect the unexpected.

Review: Nocte

Nocte Nocte by Courtney Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow it was just a big wow. The author has done a amazing work.

Just like the plot description says "You will never know what hit you" it just did that. I didnt expect that final twist at all. It really explained everything which was actually taking place. Till the ending it was more like a mess. When we reached the ending it was just amazing. I dont know if i am ready for the next part right away because the story is just too dark and after the final suspense the book 2 & 3 just seems unncessary according to me. It would have been better if the book was a standalone instead of a triology.

Recommended to everyone who like romance and plot twists.

Review: The Phoenix Born

The Phoenix Born The Phoenix Born by Kaitlyn Davis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have seen better works from kaitlyn davis. There is too much room for improvement in the book. The major draw back was how suddenly the heroine become so powerful. The dragons could have been better told. The riders POV was very rushed. The selection of riders everything which happens was told in a rushed way. The awakening of the riders felt useless unless for the ending. The creation of the dragons also felt like a big question mark. The author tried to add too much stuff in a small book. It would have been better with 500+ pages.

A heavily rushed ending to the slow started series. I wish the author had done a better work.

Review: Dreams of Gods & Monsters

Dreams of Gods & Monsters Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Beginning with a end.

Very few books get an addition to my most favorite books and i am glad to say this is one of them "Master Piece"

This book was the end of a trilogy but it was a beginning of a new world.

Characters: I never really expected much additional characters in this new book except for few secondary characters but there was a additional POV which i never expected and it was just amazing.

What i liked: Everything was just amazing. If i said there was anything i didn't like it will be an insult to this great series. I am happy that i got to read such a amazing series and a addition in my authors list whom i am look forward to in the future.

This book kept me on my seats edge and it was just amazing to see everything that took place. I was very much worried that the ending of the trilogy will be spoiled by some "BOOK SINS" but thank god there were none of them. I couldnt find any flaw in the world which was created in the starting of the series. There were many disclosures in the book which explained everything and it fit together really well with everything that had happened.

I am waiting for a spin off from this series bcs the story hasnt really ended here and there is a lot more to learn about this world.

Recommended to everyone who likes Fantasy with a touch of romance in it.

Review: The Burning Sky

The Burning Sky The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I guess i am in my lucky week with 4th continuous read getting a 4+ star rating.

Rating this book was hardest thing to do for me. I wanted to rate it a 5 star because i really enjoyed it but i guess just enjoying the book doesnt matter. The only reason i am not rating it 5 star bcs of few things which wasnt explained very much properly and i might even add them as a Book sins.

I never understood the "Inquisters " other than that they are people of Atlantis but they are likely controlling even the kingdom of domain but at various locations it was more or less told to us that domain may declar war against atlantis which likely brings up a lots of question. If domain is under Atlantis supression then how can it be a separate kingdom and if it is separate kingdom them how come the agency of other kingdoms torches the king of domain.

The political aspect of the book was very much unclear and hopefully it will be more likely explained in the next book. I would have rated this book 5 star if the political setting and foregin policy of the kingdom was more properly explained like the army/inquestor and its minions roaming in the domain when they actually belong to Atlantis.

I am expecting more explanations regarding the political setting in the future books and hopefully it will be more clearer.

The romance part of the book was not expectional but it wasnt bad either there were many areas where it was good . The relationship was not properly explained in the current book but hopefully more explanations will come in the future..

I am very much worried after the end of the first book that there will be too many "BOOK SINS" in the series which i hate a lot. So hopefully it will be all well explained.

Final Remarks: A good plot setting but requires lot of explanation to the Political aspect.

Review: Emerald Green

Emerald Green Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was an amazing ending to the series but not the best work of the author.

The parts i liked:

The time traveling part was the best especially how the author linked everything in the end as if all was supposed to be happened the way it happened. Only thing i didn't understand was giving life to James. It would have changed the entire history but it didn't happen that's the only thing which was hard to understand, One life can change the entire history including existence of the time travelers so that part alone was mystery to me and i probably will call it as a "Book Sin".

Xemerius was my most favorite character in the entire book, he was just amazing. Especially all the background commentary was the awesome stuff and i enjoyed it a lot.

The parts i didn't like:

The romance section. I dont know may be its because of the book is translated but the romance was the worst part of the book. I didn't gwen that much as well and the worst thing is it was all written from the point of view of gwen.

Characters:

Gwen: The character could have been a whole lot better. She was a hormonal teenager with no maturity of whats so ever.

Gideon: He was more of mystery other than Gwen's constant rambling abt his eyes and how handsome he is.

Xemerius: The only character in the entire book who made the book very much enjoyable..His sense of humor was amazing. If not for him i dont think i would have been able to go through the Gwen's idiotic thoughts.

Final Verdict: The time travel is the best part and if you can ignore the hormonal teenager drama you will enjoy it but the 50% of book contains the teenage drama only.

Review: Heartbound

Heartbound Heartbound by P.I. Alltraine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is one of those kind which has a beautiful story in it. The author may not have spent time in characterization but the truth was it was not needed at all.

"Love between people of different time frame are always starcrossed"

I dont know why i have rated this book a 5 star, there are many things in this book for which i usually reduce my rating but this is one of those books which touch your heart and no matter the mistakes we can't just help but give it a 5 star rating..

This book has done so many things to me which even the trilogy and quad can't do. Its a powerpack book which takes us into a different world.

There were many things which weren't explained in this book but the truth is i dont want to know about them anymore because this book was just perfect. Any more addition into this book will be betraying this awesome story. I would suggest that the author shouldn't write anymore on this series and leave this as a standalone spectacular book.

Last Verdict: If you haven't read this book what the hell are you waiting for.

Review: Sword and Verse

Sword and Verse Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am having a hard time writing a review for this book.. The internal conflict for me is very high for whether i should give it a 3 star or 4 star.

This book is definitely not a 5 star for me reason being the book had missed the biggest part i.e the court. The author never brought anything about court except a few things which were important in the plot. We weren't told about the setting of the empire.

Why you should read: The plot is interesting. The author deleberately reaveals the biggest secret and makes us wait for the character to identify it. But the heart verse was just awesome. I never expected what it was so that was a good thing..

The short description about the story of gods was also good.

The author kept us engaged in the story by different means. The main plot of this book is romance and the author had done a great job in that area and its only because of that had i enjoyed this book a lot.

Some basic sins: The Learned ones used to live on a island. When there are watch towers it is easy to see the enemy ship approaching so i dont understand how they weren't able to prepare themselves for the attack. We weren't told anything about the time frame between when the learned ones left and current time which is a big draw back. Espically if i consider them to be living there for 500 -600 years it would be easy for them to sneak in the empire and start teaching the language, The rebels would have farmed within 20-30 years. So i would have liked if the author had brought in some time frame.

Last Verdict: I enjoyed reading this book. It was worth the time i spent on it. Would be liked by those who love romance book and not by the Fantasy-War readers. If you are new to reading then you should definitely read.

21st Jan 16
Loved this book. Full review tomorrow.

11th Jan 2015
Loving the person against whom you are going to rebel? Bloody awesome.. I am ready for a roller coaster ride for the emotions because it will definitely be a betrayal and i cant wait to see how the author handles it between the characters..which i think will be the crucial part of the book.

Review: Never Never: Part Three

Never Never: Part Three Never Never: Part Three by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The only thing i can say is Mystery is definitely not a good spot of COHO.

When i first read the Never Never it was just amazing and the cliffhanger it was just bloody lovely. The book 2 developed a little more and i was definitely thinking that the women who had kept charlie locked must have been behind this, some black magic or anything but when i actually read the most awaited book in my list "Never Never Part 3" it gave me a heart attack. Seriously that was one of the worst ending i have ever read in my life.

The book was a good read. It kept me engaged through it but what i never expected was the shitty end. When i figured out the reason they lost their memories i was like this is so not happeining but when i read the last line of the book i just couldn't take it. I am really tempted to take off some stars off the first two books of this series.

Epilogue: I think for every book its a lifeline. I have rated many books a extra star just because of the awesome epilogue but this epilogue lost a star actually.

Romance: This was the only reason i even rated this book a 2 star. The only thing which kept into the book. If it wasn't for the swoon worthy romance i don't think i would have read it. Of 70 Pages atleast 40-50 pages in this book is toward romance.

Last Verdict: You can read it if all you want is a swoon worthy romance bcs the author have done a awesome job there. I just didn't liked the abrupt ending of the book.

Review: Becoming Alpha

Becoming Alpha Becoming Alpha by Aileen Erin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

Becoming Alpha is about a teenage girl who has lived her entire life cast out from everyone and when her parents decide to move out she is excited to start a new life with a hope that she won't have to be the freak anymore but only if she can control her visions but we don't get what we always expect and sometimes the things which happen are for our own good.

Considering that this book is Debut book the author has done a great job, I usually don't like reading all the werewolf and vampire books but i thought of giving it a try and i am glad that i did it because i think i will like to read many more books on werewolf's. It can be read as a standalone there is no cliffhanger and the author also has set a good plot for the future books in the series.

I may have liked this book because it was totally new stuff for me and i have nothing to compare it with. The things i liked the most was the alpha dominant nature over their mate, Tessa hate over the word mate and there quite a few jokes on about the whole mate thing.

After all the praises now its time for the criticism. The most important thing in the books of paranormal is that they should be a hidden society among the the humans and the werewolf's believe themselves to be hidden but the author wasn't able to make it perfect in that way because the new town where Tessa moved to felt like everyone know about the wolves and if was the case then how come it never made it to media? The few scenes which make me say that are 1) Party 2) Pizza Delivery 3) Mall.

At all those locations it felt to me that the humans of that particular town already know about the wolves or atleast that something is wrong with people of St.Alibe. There are few other mistakes but i think those can be ignoerd.

Characters

Tessa: Since the entire book was written from her point of view we were able to understand her well enough. Her character changes a bit after she becomes a wolf and i must say she only get better.

Dastien: Tessa's mate, Nearly half of the book Tessa was mad at him and it was bound to happen because she was new to the life of alpha. I liked him but since there was not a single chapter from his POV we can only determine his character from all the things Tessa told to us but its not much to determine the character in full.

Last Verdict: Recommended to those who like to read Paranornal - Romance.

Review: Master of Crows

Master of Crows Master of Crows by Grace Draven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The only reason i started reading this book was because of the author's another book " The Wraith Kings". Even though it can be read as standalone it is always better to know the world well about which you are going to read.

I am glad that i did that bcs this book turned out to be good one too. Maybe not the best but good enough to made me read the part 2. I usually dont like reading the 3rd person's POV books but the author kept me hooked up with it which in itself was more than enough for me. The book was steady paced but what i missed in it was that it didn't bring me to my edge of seat. It was more like romance among the Mages. The author didn't keep the Mystery of Spy and the Black Mage much, I was fairly certain that both won't speak a word against each other and we can predict it off early in the book itself.

Last verdict: Can be read by Fantasy - Romance lovers but dont expect the book to bring you to the edge of your seat but there are few good twists in it though which will keep the steady pace of the book.

Review: Radiance

Radiance Radiance by Grace Draven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Radiance is a book about evolving relationship between two persons from different race altogether. One is a ancient Fading race of Kai and another is new young race of humans.

The book doesn't have much of action packed. There is no drama but it is about a couple where they get to know each other. I have read many Fantasy romance but i have never seen any relationship evolving like it did in this one. Most authors waste time on Misunderstandings or love triangle but Grace Draven has her own touch. This is the 3rd book i am reading written by her and i must say she is the best relationship describer i ever read.

The book's magic is the relationship, the author doesn't waste time on Magic lessons but simply tell us the relationship part of the two people.

This book is not for the Epic Fantasy readers who want lots of Action. Politics, Drama but it is for the romance readers who like to read the evolution of a relationship over the course of the marriage.

Review: The Forbidden Wish

The Forbidden Wish The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After a long wait i was finally able to check this book from my "Unpublished list".

The story of Aladdin. I haven't read the book but i have seen a lot of movies on this one and this is the first retelling i have read about one my favorite childhood faerie tale and the author has a done a incredible job.

Till the last 50 pages i wasn't sure that the author would be able to finish this book but the author did and thats the reason i was disappointed in this book not because of the ending of course but because this is a standalone. I would have liked it very much if it was a more of a trilogy rather than a standalone.

Recommended to everyone who wants to read a good romance story with no cheesy lines.

Review: The Cry of the Icemark

The Cry of the Icemark The Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The book was good enough but there were many concept errors in it.

1) 14 year can be a good swordsment but u cant expect them to strategise for the army thats just little too much.
2) Too many wolves & leopard shown not possible to feed the large group in a small country as mentioned in the book.

The above two are the basic errors of the book and there are lot more which can be discussed over hours. If you can ignore past them u will like the book.

I enjoyed reading it though bcs i thought the heroine is 24 instead of 14 lol. The only plus point of the book is that it has been well narrated.

Can be a good read for the age group of 14-18.

Review: Steelheart

Steelheart Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An Amazing read and now i cant wait to read the next 2 parts of this book. An awesome work done by the author.

The characters, word building and everything including the hint of romance at various parts was just amazing. Whenever i read books of brandon i usually think that i would't find any loop holes in the book at all but when i started reading and had reached in the middle of the book i was in conflicts whether the author is trying to hide something or there is a one hell of big loop but when we reached the 70% of the i was very close to what the suspense was but there were two things which just shocked me. One was truth abt Firefight and another was about " How to kill steel heart". I never ever guessed that how the author is gonna kill him. It was just amazing.

I must say Brandon Sanderson you are the best fantasy writer ever.

Must read for all Urban Fantasy readers..

Review: Rebel of the Sands

Rebel of the Sands Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Rebel of the sands:

I was told that the story would leave me wanting for more and it wasn't a cliffhanger. But the truth is the book is a cliff hanger. It is not a end of this story. It was just an end of the first battle in the World of sands which has just began. The narrating style of the author was good but i didn't like the magical world. There was lot of problem with them. The stories of the magical beings .. their beginings.. the creation of the world was just impossible to gulp down but if you can ignore that.. it was a good one.

I can't wait to read more of this series...

Review: The Scourge of Muirwood

The Scourge of Muirwood The Scourge of Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The ending of the book was just it has to be. The ending leaves a lot of opening for a spin over series and i hope the author will write a spin over to this series.

There are lot of questions i have which the author has not explained and yet i can assume what the author's answers will be afterall now they have explained everything about the books.

My fav scene was the serpent chamber. You guys will know about it when you will read it.

I am gonna miss this series... This is a book where i fell in love with the world rather than the characters. I fell in love with the thoughts of the author.

One thought, a whisper in your mind can change lives. I hope this last line can whisper a thought in your mind to read this one..
